explanation down in holley carb section . basically it keeps the diaphragm from distorting under spring pressure during assembly . any right angle piece of scrap and a couple nuts n bolts and some good eyeballin' measurements will do it . it's like the third hand ya never have . first pic shows no distortion under pressure .
