I ordered a mini starter from www.turbobuicks.com, and I use that starter on my 11:1 464ci big block. It's advertised for the v-6's but works on the BBB's as well. It works great, much better than the stock piece, I believe it ran about $125 shipped to my door........
I use the same turbobuicks starter now on a 10.5 462 engine. No more hot start problems and it sounds neat. Alan bought one in BG and the salesman at the tent said to use the 455 stock bolts, but I found the stock bolts to be too long. So make sure you get the bolts with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you want a tilton super starter????????
Do a search on this board for mini starter. 65specialconver sells them he is great to deal with. I got mine in spring this year and it bolted right in and I did not have any problems with it all summer.
I always use Summit for EVERYTHING but they didnt seem to have much in the Buick 455 department I'm most likely going to go for the Turbobuicks mini starter especially since its supports the site
Something I found with Summit is that they don't always tell you everything they know. I have a Powermaster XS mini starter for my Stg 2 motor. If you look in their website or catalog you won't see it. But I went to the Powermaster website and found the part number (9511). I then went to the Summit website and typed in the part number with Summit's prefix for Powermaster. It comes up but just says "starter". I ordered it and got it. I've done this same process with other parts, too. The Powermaster is a good starter. It cranks my 13:1 motor even when it's hot. I think Bobb Makley also sells Powermaster. Have fun.
what the *%@&??? dont you guys ever read the vendor section of this board:af: check out my post there on alts & starts:TU:
