where would the vin be on the frame of a 1966 skylark gs.. drivers side under the door?? is thier any on the firewall near the blower motor? i have a inspection sticker from 1983 that is still on the windshield but have to look if the vin is on that..the vin was removed for resto in 1983( the year i was born) and was told it was in some boxes, well i was 15 and dident look, saw the cowl tag and thought that was it.. :ball: now i am up the creek and no padle with a car that is almost done. thanks for any help.
It's stamped on the top side of the frame in 2 places....under the drivers door, and next to the gas tank, again on the drivers side, and on top. It may be tough , or even impossible to read due to rust or poor stamping. If you have the original engine, it will have the second half of the VIN. The first half is the model number....446176 is for a hardtop GS.
