    Sun Coupe?

Adam, is that an orginal sunroof or aftermarket? Looks like it could be orginal, 117 '73 Rivs had manual sunroof, 1091 had electric sunroof. RV

    Berta,

Looks like it was hacked with a saw from the inside....lots of bent metal.

It was supposedly a power sunroof....but there is no motor anymore. And I'm afraid to remove the duct tape that was put there so meticulously:grin:

I'd like to know if it was an original though.:Do No:

Adam, it still could be original, hard to say how they cut the holes back then, check out the trim tag and see if it has any weird codes that begin with Z. RV

I want the motor, however I don't have any spare cash or spare time to come get it. However if you still have it in Jan I'll have tax money.

    Re: Sun Coupe?

    Roberta,
I wasn't aware that manual sunroofs were available in Full Size cars. Was it available only in 72-73?
Where have you got this interesting information?

Adam, does your Centurion has the power seatback release? If not, you could probably keep those from your Riviera. I had them in my former 1976 Electra and I liked this feature.

Adam, if you notice, you do not have levers on the sides of the seats, up top, that you would turn to release the seat to fold over. Instead, you solenoids down where the latches are that are activated by the door jam switch, i.e. open door=unlatch seats, close door=latched seats. Looking at my Body manual, it looks like you can remove them by undoing some hog rings and folding back the seat covering. Would be a cool little feature to add the Cent.

I forgot to ask you if your Centurion already has the power door locks? I think the power seatback release option couldn't be ordered without power door locks.
If you want to remove them, I'll try to tell you all what you have to get!

    I have power locks....

The Riviera has latches down low and behind the seat....very hard to get to, as the handles are gone. They're basically just holes in the seats now....I have to dig around and really pull to get the seats to unlatch.

Does your Riv has a battery in it? When the door is open, you shouldn't have to use the release button. The seatback release located behind the seat are to use in case the power release fails or if the door is closed. There should be a plastic release button where you say there is a hole. I have blue ones from my 76 parts car but I think one is cracked...

This car has been monkeyed with to the extreme.....I'm surprised anything works on it.

Blinkers don't work, one headlight, one taillight out, radio/dash bezel is torn to shreds.

I don't even want to bother with it.:gt: :gt:

The Riv has a battery in it...I can go out and start it up anytime I need to.

I had a 72 Riviera with electric seat back locks. It was a very handy option, except it drained the battery if the door was open too long. It was just a solenoid inside the seat back assembly that held the seat release mechanism open. It allowed me to tilt the front seat back forward without using the manual release when a front door was open. The manual release was still present.

It was only available on 2 door big Buicks with the electric door lock option. But it wasn't tied into them electrically, and could be added without too much trouble. It's easy to spot a car with that option. There is a second door jamb switch mounted just above the regular one for the interior lights. It's just an add on to any two door Buick.

hmm....I've got 2 jamb switches in my Centurion.:puzzled:

2 door jamb switches for each door?
Just curious, is the interior original in your Centurion?
Does the front seat has an armrest?
I posted a picture that I found of a 71 Centurion with the correct notchback seat and no power seatback locks. (note the small chrome handle at the top of the chrome molding).
