i have a 1983 buick regal with a 307 in it. but i want to put a 1971 buick 455 in it.street car. looking for 450 to 500 for now can you help.
stage one heads. new pistons. pretty much rebuild it with goodies! take advice from guys on this page. they help a lot! just about ready to get my 83 limited 455 stg one on the road GOOD LUCK!
Welcome!! I'm just finishing up my 86 regal with a 71 455. Its lots of work but well worth it! The 4 speed and the headers was the hardest part. Mine had a 307 in it too. The 455 sure rocks the car when you rev it up in neutral! Lots of tourque!!!!! can't wait to get it on the road just need to bleed the brakes and waiting for my tires to come in! I've got lots of spare parts if you need anything! Brad
With a reasonable cam with street manners, stock intake, Q jet, exhaust manifolds you will need the TA aluminum heads (www.Taperformance.com) to get that 450 -500 hp. Stock stage 1 specs yield about 375 hp at a little over 5000 rpms.
I am using the TA310 cam, works well on the street for me(nice lopey idle) also I have a SP1 intake, poston headers, 3 1/2" exhaust into 3"race mufflers among other go fast goodies. runs very well on the street
My Regal With a 455 10.1 small SP 235 hit the 11.70s But the only thing is that the TA intake manifold wont fit under the hood as you can see in my avatar :TU: It was the best car i built in the late 90s
for around 450 hp try a ta 288-94 h cam advanced 4 degrees, port heads and intake but standard valves, edelbrock performer,850 carb ,msd dist ta shorty headers with H or X pipe exhuast,9.5 or high compression you dont reallt need alum heads until your over 550 hp like regal with this combo you will need a better rear end than the 7.5 rear and you will have tractions problems as its more torque then you can hold down with stock suspension pieces
