Very true; - however, how does one prove it? The argument has a few major points against this car being in deplorable condition and low mileage; - most Rivieras were bought by well-to-do people and cared for for many years, the odds of a car like this being left out standing in it's field to rot from new is pretty weak.

Can look for original parts like fuel pump, exhaust hangers, brake drum keepers and other things that are replaced early in the cars life cycle. When I bought my LeSabre with 13k on it, I brought it in for exhaust and the ancient shop owner told me the muffler was original as were the tires, the brake drum keepers, the muffler clamps, belts etc. My car was in great shape but that too is no indication that the mileage is original as I have seen meticulously maintained mint looking cars with rolled over odometers. So there are ways to tell besides documentation. Incidentally I got the car because nobody believed it was original for the price he was asking. It was in the garage sitting since 1975. Stil had the park sticker on from 75. 1500 for a 20k drive train is not a bad price and worth looking into if I was in the market for that.

Optical illusion. That's what happens when the moss starts growing on it.

He ended up selling to a used car guy who has a 4500.00 price tag on it. Its hard to get that kind of money for them when they run. This car was a hood reject and as often as I contacted the owner he was never available to show the car until the day he sold it. I made arrangements to go and look and when I called to say I was on my way, It was sold. all sounded sketchy and then it turns uup on a lot for three times the money and still did not run. Would have like to had it for a parts car for mine though. It appeared to be a twin.
