What kind of documentation exists to demonstrate that it came from the factory with a T/A hood?

Keith, there`s tons and tons.... It`s kind of weird and this includes me until I started doing some digging into this T/A hood deal. Most Mopar guy`s have no idea about this. Some guy`s will say " They never did that". It`s the real deal.

Here`s a fender tag with the option code..

    Here`s a fender tag of a real T/A hooded R/T Challenger.

Really, I can post about 20 different things that prove beyond a doubt Dodge did indeed offer this hood. Patrick`s car is a real T/A hooded Challenger. :TU:

From very reliable sources I can tell you there are 4-5 non T/A's fitted with this hood from the factory. I think 2 for 1971. My Challenger is one of 2 Hemi-Challengers known to have been built this way. Mine is FE5 red. The other Hemi is triple black. The black one was a race car that was dismantled and rusted out in the 80's. That information I got from Galen. Mine is complete with "original" fender tag and broadcast sheet showing the N94. It was ordered by a guy named Wayne Warner who raced tha car in 70-71 NHRA division 3. He being a Dodge salesman knew you only had to check off N94 on the order sheet.

That makes my car the only Hemi-Challenger in the Chrysler Registry that exsists with real documentation.

Thanks for your photo Patrick. I cant help it but I love those cars and yours looks great. :TU: I did not know about the T/A hood option on non-T/A cars but I just learned something new. Makes me wonder if you could order a non-AAR Plymouth Cuda with a AAR hood?

I don't know a thing about Mopar wierd options, etc, but two knowledgable friends of mine in southern Illinois told me that they know a guy who worked for Dodge, that has a DOCUMENTED Challenger T/A, built with a 440 6-pack. I asked if it was stickered as a T/A, or just had the hood, and they claimed it was a full T/A with spoiler, side pipes and all. I believe them. Dan

The T/A's were a special run of Challengers built in April and May of 1970. I guess with Chrysler you can never say never, but I highly doubt the build sheet would confirm this.

There are however 6-8 Non-T/A cars with the hood with documentation. 4-5 for 1970 and 2-3 for 1971. Only 2 Hemi cars. I think the others are 383 and 340 cars. One was a 340 convertible that ended up on Ebay last summer.

To me, if the friends are relatively accurate, they're talking about an R/T with the T/A hood. If they don't know what they are talking about (and that happens quite often!), it could be anything. Documentation will shut anyone up.
