ok, so my 67 electra decided to start running like a$$. I was going down the road, and it died. i tried to start it, but nadda. when i finally got it started and got it somewhere where i could look at it, i noticed that the carb was flooded. I waited about 45 minutes, and cranked it over. it started, but ran really rough. way noisier than normal, especially on the drivers side. it almost sounded like an exhaust leak, but i suspect maybe a fouled plug. Also when i turn it off it diesels (engine run-on). i could really use some assistance if you guys could give some. thanx...Garrett

Oh yeah I also started to put some lead additive in it a couple of days ago...don't know if that did anything, but thought i'd let yall know.

Sounds to me like you may have a carb problem, and turning it over a lot pumped down the lifters.. which would be normal.

i kinda thought it may be a carb problem. the guy i bought it from said he had the carb rebuilt, but when i looked at it it did not look all that rebuilt. any idea how much either a 800cfm q-jet, or a q-jet rebuild kit is?

I have a Holley that had neoprene floats instead of brass floats. I ran "carb cleaner" additive through a tank of gas a number of years ago and then started running poorly. The mecahnic that did a rebuild said the neoprene floats had become soggy and were heavy causing the bowl to flood. I have never put any more additive in the gas as I suspect the additive reacted with the neoprene causing the problem. I do not know what the q-jet has for floats. Is it possible some rebuild kits may contain neoprene floats as replacements and could your carb have these if it has previously been rebuilt??

Ok so i have am almost positve that my drivers side motor mount is causing all the problems. it is SHOT. when i put in drive from reverse it jumps damn near 6 inches with a thud. I called NAPA and ordered all three mounts (might as well do them all). Are there any special procedures in replacing them??
