Hi there, so i have a 70 skylark, added a rear gs spoiler and soon a front chin spoiler. I was wanting to paint the whole car a red while the gsx stripes i wasnt sure what to do. Thinking about black stripes or a whitish silver? any thoughts or pics?
I personally don't like red very much, but I love this color. It is a HOK paint, part number UK01, brandywine. I think it would look great with matte or satin black stripes. Just my .02 o No:. Best of luck to you and I hope to see the car painted soon :TU:!
If you do the X stripes please have them done correctly nothing looks worse than X stripes.that are 3in wide on the fender and have a 2in radius on the 1/4 panel, X stripes are difficult and time consuming process, ive laid out 5 sets and countless other stripes over the years and still will spend all day just masking the X stripes, that being said black and orange over red is about the only combo I see working in my head anyway, and a dual color stripe single color X stripes look terrible IMO, a dark charcoal over a deep red metallic or burgundy would look good on a lowered pro touring type build with semi flat black mouldings and painted bumpers
Please don't take this the wrong way. (I have seen your car in person) for what its worth. I don't usually like to give advise on other peoples taste, but if this was my car the wheelie bars and the stickers would be gone in ten minutes. I also agree with said above. If the stripes aren't correct they aren't worth doing. I personally feel GSX stripes belong on GSX's. Remember, especially with buick's LESS IS MORE!!!!!!
I painted mine with 1976 "Boston Red" - I think it is either #35 or #36. It is also called "Firethorn" in the Chevy world. It was used in '75 and '76 only on H bodies and sort of takes on a two tone where it looks burnt orange one way and red the other depending on how the metallic is reflecting in the sun. I get compliments at every car show and it really turns heads on the street. It is in my avatar with GSX spoilers but no stripes. I agree that GSX stripes should be reserved for those cars.
Also, have you put any thought into what color(s) and materials and design(like seats) of the interior will be?
I Have red 5 pt. harness belts and two black generic high back Sport seats. Like what O'Reileys has sometimes.
