http://www.buicks.net/shop/reference/engine_ident_63_75.html Or you can look at this link. Be sure to click on "Click for more on 425 Identification" It will show you where to look on the block. Rick
In the attached picture from the link I gave you, you can see an "MT" inverted on the left side of the block behind the water neck and infront of the valley pan. It is just to the right of the temperature sending unit. Look for the two letter designation on your block and match it to the table in the link I gave you. The nailhead lettering is pretty simple. The first letter is the year and the second is the displacement. KT is a '64 401. K being 1964, T being 401. KT- '64 401 KW- '64 425 w/ single carb KX- '64 425 w/ dual quads LT- '65 401 LW- '65 425 w/ single carb LX- '65 425 w/ dual quads MT- '66 401 MW- '66 425 w/ single carb MZ- '66 425 w/ dual quads (I know Z does not fit the pattern o No: )
This must be an older (than the 60's) motor. Doo Wops link specifically id's it as a 322 from a 55 Super. Try this link http://www.buicks.net/shop/reference/engine_ident_53_58.html
