this is not for the turbo motor. its for the 72 skylark 90% strip 10% street

I am considering a TA sp1 intake. I run 12.80 with b4b and shift at 5300 rpm with stock stall. heads are home ported. cam is a smaller 224i 234e 5 degree overlap at .050. 3.55 gear with 26" tire. 800 avs elbrk carb. I am going to install a switch pitch 1100 low side 3000 high side. I am also going to install the poston front spoiler ram air kit. i would like to still run 12.80 or better in low stall without ram air kit. and will only switch to a sp1 if it will be at least the 12.80 or better in low stall but needs to be better in high stall over what the high stall and ram air kit is going to give anyway. any input would be much appreciated. Im thinking that the 3000 stall will get 12.80 down to 12.5 and ram air down from 12.5 to 12.3 and how much do you think the sp1 will get.

I'm not sure about the intake or converter, but I wouldn't plan on knocking .2 off your times with ram air. It MAYBE helped my car .1 at best.

Ken is that the old style B4B or the new one that is basically a Performer
with a little different top. I think the SP-1 will make a bigger difference over the new style B4B verses the old style. I made the switch from the old style
to the SP-1 when the SP-1 first came out. It knocked a little under 2 tenths
off my ET. I picked up almost 3 mph but it slowed my 60' times just a tad.
It moved the power range more toward the midrange and top end.
I was running Poston 4500 switch pitch with 430 gears and 29.5" tall 11"
slicks. I was also running Postons 105 cam with factory Stg2 heads with
no modifactions outside of a 3 angle valve job. My 64 Skylark weighed
3400 with me in it. My best time with that set up was 11.02. I think if
I ahd played with the ladder bar set up a little more I could have got my 60'
times back and made the 10s. By the way James are you going to sell your B4B I might be interested.

    Hi bob,

How do i tell if it is the old style. it is not the performer i know that for sure. it also has a plate that bolts to the under side. i bought the car with the b4b on it back 2003. if the sp1 is faster than the b4b then why would you want the b4b instead. is there an advantage in some applications. just curious.

I Picked Up 2 Tenths And 2 Mph From Dual Plane To Sp1 In My Riv. You May Have To Re Tune Carb, A Little Less Pump

James I want the B4B for my 70 GS that I'm restoring. The only bad thing is I won't be able to use the GS air cleaner. This is just my opinion of course but I think the B4B (Old Style) is a little more street friendly while still giving good performance. If you are trying to get all you can at the drags go SP-1 they srill work good on the street.

Sorry James I don't have a trade. I have never seen a late model B4B up close so I can't tell you what the difference is. I'm thinking the old ones didn't have a dual bolt pattern. :Do No:
