alright, i know this one is gonna be simpleton...but i dont have a garage, and im working outside in a bitter PA winter...

When i got my car, it didnt have headlight bezel's.....but i found them in the trunk. I want to put them on...do i have to drop the bumper, take off the grill, take the headlights out???

i know i sound like a newbie...which i am when it comes to this stuff, but i really need to know, cause my headlights are all googly.

i figured this would be the best place to post this question....
    Thanks guys.

All you need to do is take out the headlights, then wiggle bezels down behind the bumper. It may seem a little tight but it'll work eventually.

ok, well i thought about that...but the problem is the springs holding the headlights in, i could take them off, but how much of a p.i.t.a. would it be to get those springs back onto the headlights after the bezels are on....also the adjustment screws on the light themselves...would they be accessable...???

    SkylarkSteve Hello Michael

Its been quite a while since I last changed the headlights, but I don't remember removing the springs at all. I was surprised by how easy it was since I thought the springs needed to be removed too. Hopefully someone who has this fresh on their mind will chime in and help, and if all else fails you can start removing screws and see what comes loose. :pp

Don't start taking more apart. The bezels should wiggle in with everthing else in place. Your bumper may be mounted too high or in too tight. Loosen the bumper mounting bolts enough so you can reposition it if that is whats in keeping you from getting them mounted.
    Oh and welcome aboard!

ok, i'll try to loosen my bumper tomorrow, so the bezels should slide over the headlights?? thats a good thing.

Thanks for the welcome, ive been here for a while now, i just got my car last week though...so im still a newbie... :(

AND SHE NEEDS A LLLOOOOOOTTTT OF WORK....

i bought a bench seat that is surrounded by metal...im simply turning that metal into a buick. :)

I'm not the only one then? At least yours has seats  The bezels on my last 3 '72 Skylarks/GS wiggled right in, without loosening the bumper. There are plastic studs that offset the bezels from the rad support. Just slip the bottom part under the bumper first. Good luck, and post some pics! I bought a gas cap and am building around it, so we're in the same boat.

Sounds good to me, maybe we should find a parts car and split the cost. The outer shell on mine is ok, the problem I have is that it's basically just a shell. Here's a thread with a pic: Link to thread. Let me know what you're looking for, so if I come across things I don't need that you do need I can pass the info along.

ok, my car is the opposite. I have a good frame......and motor.....

I need rear quarters, and i need to patch some other panels. tail lights, bucket seats, auto shift console and all parts....basically everything for a black interior...my doors are horrible. And i have no trunk
i need a grill, and everything to convert a base skylark to a GS 455 stage 1.

    I have a 73 455 im building.

I'm poor right now, so its gonna be slow, but i think im gonna get some repro rear quarters right now, because there is nothing left of them. And im gonna get a new trunk afterwards. So thats about 600 dollars out of my 40 dollar budget...its gonna be fun.

I would like to get a good parts car...but i have nowhere to keep it. so it would have to stay at ur place. And...its gonna be a while cause im gonna need money to do it.

You really shouldn't have to loosen the bumper. The bezels will come out, though you may have to move them at strange angles. Think of it as a puzzle.

    ok...update

i got my driver side bezel in...but for some reason my passenger side bezel wont fit in...the bumper wont allow it to go in at all...and even if i get it past the bumper, the grill isnt allowing it either.....i think something is wrong here...
