HELP! 1965 GS wheels?

Discussion in 'Parts wanted' started by wheelz, Oct 30, 2005.

Hi. I am looking for two things.. First, a set of (5) nice 14X6 correct offset 1965 GS rallye wheels. . .and secondly, the correct date code information for above wheels? I almost bought a set of 5 that were 1968 wheels. . looked the same, offset the same. . but was told wrong date code. . Are they THAT different? Anyone out there got a "correct dated" set for a 65 GS who wouldn't mind sending me the date code info? :Do No: Thanks! :TU: Wheelz, Tampa Bay

    Wheelz,
I have one of my 65 wheels in the garage, I'll go take a peek at it. The 65 wheels are 65 only, I think.

Ok, I looked at it; there's nothing stamped in that I can see from the outside of the wheel. A tire is still mounted on it, so there could be something on the inside, and I won't be able to tell until I change the tire out. There was a large "B" stamped on the backside by a lug hole, but that doesn't tell you much.

    Thanks!

Hey Mark. . .I really appreciate your help! I "think". . the wheel has the same markings in two different locations. . .the first and most obvious, is on the inside of the wheel, too bad the tire blocks seeing the info. . and the second place to look would be on the inside of the wheel . . on the tire lip. . . I've seen both locations stamped with ID's. Perhaps you can look and tell me more? :Do No: THANKS again for your assistance. Wheelz, Tampa Bay

    Wheelz,
The other 4 rims are on the car - at the body shop. I won't be able to get them back and really look at them until the car comes home, probably another 4 weeks. Then I'm going to dismount the old hoops, and cleanup and repaint the wheels. The spare wheel, which is the one I had out in the garage, looks like a 65 but might have been purchased later. There were no stamps at all in the rim from the outside. I went over over it closely.
