When doing an Hei conversion, do we eliminate the resisitor wire and run a wire to the dist. side of the coil from a twelve volt source?

    Yes and no.

Replace the resistor wire. That will give you the full voltage you need, and it will remain "switched" from the ignition. I used, if I remember correctly, 10 gauge wire.

Someone from this community even gave me the NAPA part number for the connector that goes into the fuse block. I removed the resistor wire and its connector, put a new connector on the new wire, and pushed it in. Actually, I disassembled the fuse block to do it. Sorry, I forget the part number.

I'm sure many posts will follow that will give better details than I am capable of.

Hi guys. Truzi, that was me. I rewired my entire engine wiring harness (had to, no wiring harness shops either make one for the Riv, nor would they do this for me).

NAPA has the spade connector that plugs into the fuse block. They also have the female connectors that are held into each plastic holder under the hood. They only have the single plastic holders, so I simply removed the female connectors from the 2 and 3-connector holders. There is a tang on the back of each connector that holds it in the holder. Simply squish this down with a thin blade and slide the connector out.

Here is a link to the thread. However, I have several bulkhead connectors and female connectors/plastic holders left if anyone needs some.

I also tried to crimp then ends on with pliers and had no luck. Either buy a good crimper or solder them on.

The resistor wire in the Rivs runs from the bulkhead connector and is wrapped in with the engine wires. It is the only cloth one in the bunch. I think the other Buicks are the same.

I tell you the part numbers for all the connectors and provide a link to buy a really NICE crimper.

I have wire left, so if you want I'll crimp an end on a piece of wire and send it to you. I'll leave it plenty long enough. PM me.
