Starting on a 1970 W-31 car in the future and trying to come up with ideals early. No build sheets so I might as well make it like we want it. Did Olds offer this car with a heater delete? I have found delete plates for Chevelles which I assume are the same but don't want to do something that was not available. Tried the ROP site but it just sucks these days! Plenty of Olds knowledge here anyway.
My buddy Bob has a gorgeous, frame off W-31 4 speed in Agean Aqua. He's got delete everything on that car. I think even washer pump delete. Im not sure if it came that way but it looks pretty slick. I have a picture on my computer of it but I cant seem to find it at the moment. I think he's on the ROP site, but I dont know his handle.
Thanks guys. I know the early 30's have deletes but I have yet to see a later model like this one that has all the deletes.
i believe it was january of 1968 when the us fed mandated a defroster (thus heater) in all cars produced for sale in the continental us, from that date on. so anything later wouldve been for export only...
Been reading all info. I can find so far. I noticed Chevy had a heater delete in 67 but no mention of it in 68+ models.
This is your answer. Any 1970 model sold in the US would have been required to have a heater/defroster. That being said, you can get the heater delete plates and say it was a Hawaii car.
I have never seen a heater delete option mentioned, discussed, pic'd, etc for that era Olds....I would lean to the side of betting it did not exist as a factory option for that year. Can't tell 100% but those are my thoughts after having seen A LOT of Olds's and having read jillions of posts on various sites. Sure would look cool to do one even if it wasn't available from the factory.
You might check your assembly manuals under the section C48, but my 1972 Oldsmobile parts book shows that option wasn't available after 1967.

Assembly manual is a good ideal. Never thought of it. I will check it out when I get back to the shop. How bad would it look to have a heater delete in an otherwise very correct car assuming it wasn't an option.
It really sanitizes the engine compartment. Plus, you really dont see heater delete plates on cars too often. Unless you bring it to an Olds show, I doubt anyone would know it didnt belong.
I don't recall seeing any heater delete cars built on lne. I started full time in assembly in the middle of the 1968 model year, so I think the info Rob said above is right on the money. As a sidelight on the export stuff, when I started at Ford in the heater/AC division in 1977, they had just launched the 1978 Fairmont and had a thing called the Mexican duct in place of the heater. It was just a gutless duct to provide ventilation. No blower motor, no heater core, no temperature modulation. Had a pull cable and a damper door for open or shut....
Crap!!!---Ben Bernanke and Tim Geithner made me promise not to tell. Oh hell, too late. They said ..."don't tell ANYONE as we are saving the J word for the NEXT banking crisis...a trillion $ just doesn't get anyone's attention any longer". :Smarty:
