Has anyone successfully fitted headers to a RHD 67 GS 400

Wow. That has to be number one of most unique questions I've read in a long time.

Question: Factory Right Hand Drive, or RHD converted from Left by a 2nd party, as is (was) sometimes done in Australia, for instance?

I probably won't have an answer either way, though!

I'd ask TA Performance. Maybe Shorties would work but I'm guessing the right hand header isn't going to clear the steering shaft from the looks of them.

    Curious questions,
    You have a/c?
If so, is the evaporator box on the right side also?
If you do, and it is, that’s GOTTA be crowded on that side!
Only thing that comes to mind is making a custom header for that side IF aftermarket Buick headers don’t fit.
It would be an expensive gamble to try standard aftermarket Buick headers and see.
Call TA performance, I’m sure they have had this question askedo_O

Before motor vehicle manufacturing was established in Australia , American cars were imported as chassis with running gear and bodies added here , in CKD and complete ,in large numbers .In the 60’s and 70’s there was still sufficient demand to support an industry in RHD conversions , this one, built November 1966 was converted here and sold as new , as far as I can find out , and registered until 1995 , and is still hibernating , very few US vehicles are imported in RHD now , in 2019 I bought a Chrysler C300 6.4 Hemi , Dodge Rams and Mustangs are also in RHD , some Corvettes and Silverados are converted here @around 200k way too expensive eh. Cheers

Can you share photos of both sides of the engine bay? That might help a lot!

These were usually loaded with auto , a/c power disc , steer and windows, passenger reclining buckets headrests , centre console, radio , door edge guards and soft ray glass . Yes a/c is still on the same side , the steering column now pierces the heater core , the brake booster and master is in the original position and a steel bar runs across behind the connected to a brake pedal mounting bracket on the right hand side , parking brake is now a pull out, adjacent the right hand foot well and the dashboard casting has been mirror reversed skilfully .
The 400 has been retired , a stage 1 455 from a 1971 Riviera will replace it , I was thinking that when I poked it with a stick , I would appreciate the sound of the extra 35 horses .
It a slim chance , but there may be some one who has managed to fit headers to their RHD car , I've looked at the TA headers and I doubt they’ll fit . cheers

I would think that if the factory 400 manifold fit than the TA shorty headers would work as well. Either way it's got to be really tight over there.

The left header , not a problem , right hand factory manifold fitted without interference , I thought shorties might work but the website does not show a recommendation and , there is only 27 “between the frame rails . I dare say I would be ok with stage 2 heads , but with current exchange rates and shipping , its double the catalogue price . That heater box is damn cute , isn’t it ? ,

In addition to the heated steering column we have bluetooth brakes, no not really, behind the dash this bar connects the clevis to a pedal box on the right hand side IMG_0561.jpeg

Is that a HQ-WB Holden steering box? As a fellow Aussie, I'm enjoying this post, and glad my '69 is still LHD.

Yes old mate, fast ratio, 2. 1/2 lock to lock , I thought about returning mine to LHD , certainly would have made it easier. have most of the bits but the dash casting has been sectioned and reassembled I doubt I would be able to find one in good nick in the US , plus I’m not exited about overtaking on our goat tracks, certainly would be able to avoid the engineers . How’s your 69 ,putting a smile on your dial?
