Maybe in New York or some other large cities, but here in our small town (only 20k people), there's no law against them.

I waited until I was almost 18 to drive because I knew I wasn't ready. I never caused an accident, but sure have been in some big ones! One of the worst was when I was in the back of an old yota landcruiser bumming a ride from the JVS back to the high school ( this was 17 years ago ) Punk kid from another class was FLYING up on us, thing of it was, were sitting at a stop sign waiting for traffic to clear. I hear tires locked up, I turn around in time to see a mini( thank God ) Bronco still doing about 50, 30 foot away! Now the speed limit through there is 25. He hit us so hard the body of the yota came right off the frame. The bronco now had the motor into the passenger compartment. And I quote~
" My brakes gave out, you guys should have moved" Dumb ass.
Sorry, but at the time the road wasn't clear and being a "T" intersection didn't help. I figure he was up too about 90+ mph at some point, because he wasn't behind us when we were exiting the parking lot.
PS, my first car turned out to be a 75' Electra 225 Limited, after that little 'joy' ride.

This is one reason I'm giving up my bike. In the 5 years or less that I've been riding, I have been cut off by old people at least half a dozen times. One old man pulled out in front of me and STOPPED, instead of just finishing the turn. I came to a quick but controlled stop, put the bike into neutral, and waved my hand slowly toward where he was going to say "well, go on ahead". Old people and young women on cell phones are the two biggest risks on the road, next to the slow and delerius crowd.

I lived in Central America for a few years, I saw the passing up hill, passing on a blind curve, every day, a few times. I never saw a wreck but some close calls. I drove a Ford 4x4 extra cab that was raised a little, had a Smitty built front bumper. Much bigger than what most other people were driving. I felt safer in it than if I were in one of those small cars they drove.
If I still lived there, I would be driving large American Iron.

this one happend to my father back in 58. he left work stoped by a friends house and had one beer. he got 2 blocks away and fell asleep. he hit a tree head on @ 85mph. the only reason they knew how fast was the speedo stoped on 85 when he hit the tree. the motor was in the front seat and he was throne clear. he wound up with 52 stitches on his head and was in a cast from the waist down. it's ironic that he had a heart attack while driving in a geo metro and died when he hit a building. just goes to show you that small cars arn't safe
