    Chevy454,

You are right about the dangers of commercial fishing. It might not be that every trip someone becomes food for the fish (rather than the other way around) but it is pretty regular. The Bering Sea is dangerous place. When I lived in Kodiak, I lived about 75' from the water. The middle of the channel was about 250-300 yards away. When it was storming my wife and I would try to figure out if the boat would be back in a couple of hours or not as there was a place called Monoshka Bay (sp) where it was always the worst. If they made it past there then they kept going and went fishing. If not they turned around and came back.

In Feb 1971 (I had ordered the T-37 :Brow: ) my parents visited. During their visit there were 5 Williwas (Hurricane to the rest of you). That is an Nat'l Weather Svc term. It was in 6 weeks and it would steadly blow 85-90 mph and gust well over 100. The gusts would sometimes last for an hour. Life just went on. I would get ocean spray on the windows of my house. Dad normally walked 3 miles a day. He came in one day and said he was going to wait until he got back home to WA before going for a walk again. Only time in 30 years of walking I knew of him to not go. His face was ashen from the cold. It was about 15 degrees. You do the chill factor! :jd:

They would go fishing in that weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, I go to the Yenko site some but mostly on the Performance Years site.

JLP - - I remember YEARS ago (close to 20 now ??), when I first met Dan Jensen and Scott Tiemann. I was just learning about his 455HO T-37, and I seem to recall him having a picture of your car at that time ?? Dan was just getting into production estimates on HO cars, and yours was one of the first ones he tracked down. At least, that's what I remember ...... :)

Either way - - Post some period and present pictures of the car ! We'd all love to see 'em !!!! :TU: :beer

It is really ugly right now and I hope to have it running by summer. Don't know about paint. Have a friend who will do it for the right price, just need to DO IT!!

Dave H- I was talking with the guy up in NH about buying a 68 HO off of him. Seemed like a nice guy to deal with. Did he store his cars in an old steel hangar? At the time, he had a 68 w ? ragtop sitting beside the HO (drooooooolllllll). You are right, quite a large collection.....

A college student challenged a senior citizen, saying it was impossible
for their generation to understand his.

"You grew up in a different world," the student said. "Today we have
television, jet planes, space travel, nuclear and solar energy, computers..."

Taking advantage of a pause in the student's litany, the geezer said,
"You're right. We didn't have those things when we were young. So we
invented them! What the hell are you doing for the next generation??"

Don't mess with old people.

We used to have Hursts and W30's on our pool car fleet at Olds. We didn't like them for the same reasons (couldn't get to Detroit and back on a tank of gas), and got horrible traction in the winter.

    Tom Stevens?

YUP. Retire early...while you still can. This isn't a dress rehearsal.

One of my previous neighbors has quite a few very rare big block GM cars stashed away somewhere around here. His name is Tom Stevens and he is VERY high up at GM right now. Great guy, dressed like Crocodile Dundee. You'd never guess he's an Executive VP, was VP of GM Powertrain when our daughters played volleyball together (about 10 years ago). Used to have a coupla mid 90 Impala SS's with 600 cube motors in them in the driveway, and at least one 11 second Suburban I recall. All had the big M in the plates.

    You are correct, Dave

Yep - Tom Stevens is still around and is VERY high up (Executive VP).

He's a good guy; was very interested in Dad's GTO and asked some good questions about it.

I've seen those vehicles; in fact I've driven the 605 cu in Suburban ("Big Red") myself. Almost got killed twice - I guess folks didn't figure that big red Suburban would be coming up on them so fast!!
