Well not yet,..but I got the foundation for my dream hauler,...be a few years b4 I finish it but getting it up and going again will happen by summer time I feel sure,..the 65 Big tire lark gonna look good rolling into BG on this monster
The low boys are obviously much longer than the wedges but haul much better too,..gonna put a storage box and tire well up front with a rack over the roof for storage,..badass winch and ramps that slide in
Was one for sale around here a couple years ago (Ford w/IDI Diesel & manual trans). I'd love to have one & used to drool over them at Carlisle back in the day (Hodges haulers were everywhere) but it's just too impractical vs. Pickup/trailer.
Been looking for one of those myself. Crew cab (possibly a sleeper unit?) or ext cab desired. I call it a "self propelled trailer"
That are brutes I'm thinking the mileage would be the same as a 6.0 that would labor a little but obviously have more TQ,...a small turbo 6.0 would be ideal but thats a slippery slope ha
I had the 8.1L Suburban for about a year. Loved it. Couldn't find an 8.1L/Allison truck and pivoted to a 6.8L V10/5r110 F350. Loved the F350 (I've had more than one Stuper Duty) with the V10 except for the mpg. VERY similar to the Suburban towing and a little rougher on fuel not towing than the Suburban. About the same towing (I'd give the Suburban about a 1 mpg edge). I'd imagine the 8.2L crate engine to be pretty similar to the 8.1? (assuming same/similar fuel delivery system)
I drove a crew cab Chevy low boy back in the 80’s. That thing drove BEAUTIFUL! 454/auto, not a powerhouse but more than adequate, stable as all hell too when loaded.
Most practical for it's intended purpose,..but I hate a damn diesel,..I don't wanna pump it or smell them ha
