Hi all. Please take a minute to read my story.

First a thanks to Mike for fixing up my log in issue, really appreciate it. I am very glad to be part of this elite group of proud Buick junkies. Only a week or two and I've already learned alot from this site.

I have a 65 Skylark 2 door sedan (pillar type) I bought from a guy whose dad bought new in 65 here in San Pedro CA (still has original "San Pedro Buick" plate frames). His dad blew a head gasket in 80 or 81 due to a rusted out leaking heater core that infected the whole cooling system and it sat in his garage till around 96 when he gave it to his son. He did the gaskets and was going to give it to his kid but the kid pissed him off so he sold it to me in 97 when my wife happened to drive by his shop and saw it in the parking lot. Bought it an hour later. lol. The body was in great cept for a little corner bondo and some pitting in the chrome. The interior is nice too. I drove it around for about 6-8 months when the gasket blew on me. So I parked it in my dads driveway for over a year till he got pissed and told me to "Get that !#$ car out of my driveway!" :af: I guess the guy didn't torque the heads down properly because the bolts came out by hand when I fixed it. I've since replaced the heater core (having killer heat in a 65 is awsome)water pump, radiator and all hoses. I also replaced the entire charging system, got dual exhaust, Insurance, Tags and she was back on the road a couple days after X-Mass.

Next on the list are, brakes, berings, wheels/tires and weatherstripping. When thats all done I may be looking at the motor and trans. I like mostly stock but, mods for squealability may be in order. lol. Although this will be after it gets out of the body shop who are replacing the back left quarter panel and molding from where some idiot in a dump truck crunched the side from the back bumper to just past the wheel at about 1 mile per hour while I was stopped in traffic two weeks ago. Glad he stopped before the door and post. His insurance is going to pay for the damage (about $2500) because according to them, my car is worth fixing. Thanks. lol. We all need some insurance company to tell us weather our Buicks are worth fixing or not. Geeze, glad I had all those shinny new parts under the hood when the guy came to "de-praise" my car.

    Great story Nick!

Welcome aboard the best Buick information source on the internet:beer

Feel free to ask any questions you might have and to swim around the forums a bit. There's already LOTS of information on here. Do a search on what you are looking for and you might find the answer before you even ask! One other thing...

Join the Buick Performance Group! It's $35 well spent:grin:

I also have a website: www.buickpartsdirectory.com that I am currently in the construction stages for, but it's running and has some interesting links in it as well. I am putting together as "Rides" section and I'm inviting anyone who wants to post their picture and story to do that. Just send me your pic and info in my email at smrtin17@aol.com or adamm@buickpartsdirectory.com and you'll see it up there within a couple days at the latest.

    Cheers:beer

    Thanks Adam,

I have in fact been doing the cliks and searches for the past couple weeks but my log in was messed so I couldnt post anything after my first "Need Manifolds" in the small block section. I was able to e-mail a couple guys already though. I've hooked a guy up with my friends body shop in LA and have already recieved a bunch of pics relating to parts for my baby. I had checked your directory and it looks great. Going to be awsome when you're done with it. That Desert yard looks worth driving to for me aswell because Pheonix is only 5-6 hours from LA. I am going to post a series of questions later about a few differences in mid 60's Buicks that I'm sure everyone will jump all over to answer for me. I may post them in the please help I'm stupid section.. LOL
