The title pretty much says it all. I was out in my '76 Century with the bare bones, stock 70 350-2 barrel, with glasspack muffler and all. Cruisin' the main, minding my own business when I come up to a red light and notice the car beside me is one I have seen around not once, but a couple times, and the kid has a well-known reputation around town for having the "import-tuner from Hell". Well, you can hear the damn pop-off valve when he builds up boost, almost sounds like he is building too much boost for what the engine can handle a lot of times(he claims to get around 19 PSI max). Anyways, it's a late model turbo-eclipse, looks like a 2 fast 2 furious car, with a black carbon-fiber hood, 6 inch exhaust tip, but at least i'll give him credit, he has no stickers on the car to be seen anywhere outside, so it isn't literally "riced-out". I'll give him credit though, I was hanging out at the mall with some fellow peeps one night and he had a race with a late model Mach 1 and they raced across the bridge that unites our town with another, about a half a mile stretch or so. He lost to the Mach 1, supposedly due to his intercooler blowin or somethin. Anyhow, back to the stop light deal. I was sitting even with him at the stop light. Light turns green, he takes off first, but not fast, almost as if he wants me to make a move first. I just play along with him, and act like I don't even know he's there. Get up to another light, he takes off fast this time, shifts hard into second, third, then 4th, hear the turbo just a whinin and a carryin on, and I get up next to him, this time I look over, and he's trying not to look at me, and here is where I get my thrills. I hold on the brake firm and hard with my left foot, I slam the gas down, all I know next is lookin over at the guy, while he is looking at my rear tire, then he laughs and gives me a thumbs up. He says something but I can't hear him, light turns green, I leave a couple ppl behind me in tire smoke, I pull in to the mall parking lot, he does the same, smoke still stuck inside my car, I had my shirt pulled over my face and nose it was so bad!:Dou: You can figure out the rest pretty much. He asked me what I had in it, and I kinda laugh and say, "ahh it's got the stock oddfire V6 in it, has 112 thousand miles, only mod there is on the car is a glasspack muffler, it's got all 105 whopping rwhp and then maybe 4 or 5 extra with the glasspack", trying not to laugh the whole time, he acts shocked, but then says "man, I sure didn't know an old Buick v6 was capable of that, except for the GN's, those are the only Buicks I thought that had power". I kinda chuckled, and at the same time expected that, as it seems most people know about the GN's but hardly any younger ppl know about how strong the V8's really are. Anyhow, we talked prolly a good half hour or so, and he even wants to build a twin turbo setup for my oddfire 6. Too bad it really isn't in my car, but rather sitting on my garage floor with a tarp over it!!!:Dou: Poor guy, shoulda told him the truth about the stock Buick 350. He still woulda been shocked I am sure.:bla:
