With the 2 1/2" exhaust and short case mufflers it sounds like a 13 flat big block. Anyone who hears it first will be disappointed with the times it runs.
The Chevy's will be scared with that. Probably will beat some too. Rock On. Bet It would run faster than most other cars from the same era. My stock 71 with a 2bbl ran real good, at least that was what others said from that time back in the late 70's. With just the Comp Cam 268 and dual exhaust with 650 spread bore carb I was beating this 66 Wildcat and I think it had a 455 back then so it may have been a 73 or so engine. Either way I was beating him and he got me real bad out of the hole but 2nd gear in mine took over. That was with the old 256 or so gear out back. That 16.1 is possible.
Just kidding. Hard as I tried I could not get it down to 16.1 Looks like pphil was the closest with his guess of 16.3 @83 mph, near spot on. Well done sir. The best run was 16.33 @ 84mph. Car weighs 4200lbs with me.
Still not bad my 92 Mustang GT convertible with automatic trans that is bone stock untouched ran 15.75@ 92 at the 2005 race at Norwalk.
Perfect now add a 150 shot of nitrous and it will wake up! I’m doing a single turbo 350 in my 75, gessler ported iron heads, 9:1, forged pistons.
Here are a couple of pictures of Steve's car from Saturday. Good to see you guys have it at the track!
I'm kinda upset lol. I had my original guess at 16.4 @ 86 and then Larry guessed way high so I was like SH!T I must be way off and changed the very first guess on this thread.
Thanks Scott, you beat me to it. Lot's of very positive comments about the car. I learned several facts about 73's I did not know. Several people noticed the clock converted to a tach and other little things I have done. The Kellys are from the 72. They will be replaced next spring. They are from 2007 and have a strange wear pattern. The rears are down to the wear bars and the fronts look like new. It's first pass was 16.75 in the rotten air quality on Friday. Better air and some tuning Sat. got it down to 16.33
The OE converter and 2.73 really killed the acceleration. 60 foot times were like 2.4 but felt much slower. After 3500 in first it was pulling pretty good. If I allowed it to shift into 3rd by itself it would happen around the 1200 foot mark. If I held 2nd thru the traps it made no time difference. I was manually shifting to 2nd.
'70 SP 350, stock except a crower level 3 cam, 800cfm qjet and TA HEI. 34* all in by 2600. 2.5" derpy homemade dual exhaust. 211wrhp @5003rpm, 263rwftlbs @2700 (at the time only with 30* timing and 10.8 wot afr). 2500stall, th350 with a shift kit, and 3.42 Grand National 10 bolt posi. Stock 85 regal V6 weighed about 3400lbs dry, so add my 250lb fat ass, two full size spares (strip is an hour and change away, cant be too prepared), tool box, and an extra pair of cylinders id say all together its about 4100lbs. Aiming for somewhere in the 14s. Probably not but I can dream lol. The closest track about an hour from me is an 1/8th mile. Last time I ran it it has peg leg 2.41, ass carburetor, and terrible brakes and 1300 stall. I had to leave at idle or id push right through the brakes. Best 3 ETs of 5 was 10.3/79mph. 2.6 60foot. Ill stop now lol.
