Here's what i'm doing to this 69' Lemans and i was just wondering what you think of my ideal for the stripe. The car is currently primed in white 2k primer but the end product will be silver with black stripes and a touch of Buick love in it (red).

I suppose a picture with a stripe in it will help. This strip will have a red line right against the black stripe and a black stripe on the outside kinda like the Buick stripe. :Brow: (Buick Love) I'm putting a Buick steering wheel on it and changing the horn cap to a say GTO with the red stripe like the Buick. Once again Buick Love.

Frank; when it comes down to it, the customer has the last say. He's changed his mind 5 times now when it comes to the color.

I like it all except the wheels. I dont like the big wheels on the old cars. Just my opinion though. I had a 73 Pontiac formula a few years ago with alittle bit of that Buick love under the hood in the shape of a 455.

Kevin, those aren't staying on there. I only put them on there cause i customer had left them here and i was just seeing how it would look. The owner of the lemans bought extra heavy duty suspension parts for his car and it looks like a 4x4. I was just trying to fill the wheel wells.

Thats the one thing i dont like about the show Overhaulin. The cars most off the time look really good but I just cant get into those big wheels on the older cars.

Kevin what's the paint code to the car you have in your avatar? I've always liked that color.

    pimp daddy wheels

Great car, the pimp daddy wheels would have to go. Wagon wheels are not for old musclecars.

    I changed the stripe

I looked at a actual 69 GTO and noticed the stripe was longer so i added to it. The front part of the design will stay as shown. There will also be a red stripe to enhance the black one. Did you noticed we are using the 2004 GTO fender emblem.

    Jon,
The second stripe is modified from a 1968 Judge only at the front and a bit wider. I'll try and find pix so you know what i'm talking about. :Comp:

    Stripe

I think the turned up stripe looks better on the hardtop car than it will on the convertible.

Maybe keep the stripe like you showed in the earlier picture. Or make it full length and have it turn down and follow the fender behind the door.

It's really tough not to think of the Peter Maxx "eyebrow" stripes on the later Judge cars - I know everybody does them, but they are tough to beat. What if you adapted this look and had two stripes? Keep the first one you had on the front of the car, and add a second one on the back fender?

Either way, I think that looks like a very nice car. Good job!

    Thanks John.

The customer has decided to paint it silver like Joe Rogans 70'Cuda on Rides(TLC).

I think the stripe looks nice, but it also makes the front end look heavy. The GTO is not quite a long hood/short deck car, but the stripe makes it look even less like that. Notice how the real Judge stripe doesn't affect the balance of the car? Try a new stripe that does the same thing, or at least makes the car look sleeker.

At least that's what my eyes see. :bglasses:

I like it Very impressive...but I'm glad the wheels are coming off cause they do take from the cars appeal.

I like you have a 69 Lemans but can't bring myself to clone. It would bother me to have to call it a clone when asked and would be embarrassed if someone accussed me of trying to pass it off as the real deal.

Anyways ...hope you post pics when its done :)
