I don't remember if the final year of the IROC body style was actually an IROC. if my memory serves me correctly it was the 92 model year and I actually dont think they called that year an IROC. Then they moved to the
LT1 93, was an LT1 in the 92 or was that still the L88 or L98 (I cant remember exact nomenclature...my mind doesnt work like it used to.

Anyway, the guys comes through traffic, obviously making his way up to me. It's lowered, has exhaust work and who knows what else. We get stopped at a light, I look over and the PUNK ass kid has attitude. gives me a smirk.... we take off, I play with him in 1st and I'm on it about 2/3's throttle until I know I can get at least get a little traction, say 4500rpms.... then I nail it... tires spin...duh, they kind of hook, shift at 6k and keep it floored in 2nd for only about another 2 seconds max.... at this point I'm 2 or 3 car lengths ahead....left him standing still and I showed him what a big block can do when mad....:beers2:

What does he do then. He flies by me and at the next stop, he lays rubber and zig zags through traffic ahead of me.

When I say kid, he wasnt 20.... he was probably 30, he should know better.

    still fun.

Taking her out again this afternoon..... then off to chicago and Indy for work next couple days.

Nice kill, I love the 3rd gen camaros but i love Buicks more. :Brow:

The Iroc was stopped in 90. 91-92 were Z\28s. It could of had a 350 tpi in it.

That,s what i love bout the big blocks, TORQUE. I owned a 63 impala ss with a 69 corvette 350 with 4:56 Gears ,4 speed and you had to rev the heck out of it to make it go. My friends 396 chevelle would just roast the tires. And say by-by . One of my customers owned a 1978 electra with a 68 430 in it, and we had a lot of fun in that car. From about 60mph he killed a lot of those 80,s IROC,S. They were nice looking ,but not that quick. A 5.0 rustang gave them fit,s. But the 89 trans-am turbo was another animal. That is a very rare and quick car, with a buick v-6 turbo, is that cool.

If it was a 92, it was a Z28. Could have been a 5.0 or 5.7 TPI. Really, there is no way to tell unless you look at the vin. But in those last years the power wasn't much different between the two motors. LT1's came out in 92 Vette's. The fbodies got them in 93.

While it is really cool to school the uninformed as to what a good BBB can do, every time you do something like that, you risk changing your life forever. If that punk kid had flew by you, nailed someone in the intersection, or in traffic, and caused a serious accident, there would have been witnesses that might say that you were racing, and you could be arrested or sued on that basis. Our cars make scary power. I'm not trying to rain on your parade Vin, but you have a family to think about. Was it really worth it to school this kid?

Chances are that is his driving habits(Iroc), No matter if you raced him or not he would have still acted like an idiot and and buzzed through traffic or ran traffic lights and intersections, it's just good you show what old school american muscle is all about.

I agree with Larry, it's not worth it. IROC Camaros were all weenies no matter what engine they came with so IMO there's nothing to prove there. There's a kid in town here with a BMW of some sort. I don't know anything about BMW's so I can't tell you what it is off the top of my head. It actually impressed me at the track one day but I still beat him and he wasn't happy about it. One day I was just cruising down the street here in town and he was at a light from a side street. When he saw me he chased me down and met me at the next light, revving the engine and giving me an angry 'come on, let's go' look. When the light turned he did the same thing as your IROC guy. I just let him go. People like that never seem to grow up until they hurt someone, and then it's "I didn't mean it, it was an accident". Not worth it.

Maybe so, but if it happens while you are racing him in traffic, you will both be liable. It just isn't worth it.
