I am considering bringing the Dippy Blue Stage to the Nats... Should I put it in the general show area? Has a few day 2 parts- alarm system, aftermarket cruise, KB heads and headers, 3" exhaust, new tires, a few original acorn lug nuts, no headliner... Otherwise, original...

    Thanks!

Yes it should be in The Open Show, it would not do very well in the Concourse section unless you correct all the things you mentioned. The car I’m sure is a beauty, but anything not correct counts against it.

I would say regular show as well. We are having the display section set up this year for all 4 days. This will be a great way to show off your car and other cars and let others here all the stories about it.

George D, Just put it in the new display area at John is organizing. That area isn't judged so you don't have to be concerned about anything except just being there. Bring it!

I feel that the "display only" area will be a popular option after it gains some traction and people know it's available. I hear so many guys say "I didn't bring my car because it's not perfect and I don't want it judged and torn apart." What would you all rather see, a area full of cool vintage Buicks on display or their regular daily driver car/truck?

Gary- agreed. This car would be a good resource. Hell, if possible, I would leave the doors open, trunk open, hood up..

Just bring it. I wouldn’t worry about any judging. Folks will flock to it.

Definitely in the regular classes or the non-judged class.

One year at the Nats I brought the X-Camino and they wanted it in the show. I did not want it judged so I “purposely” put it in the wrong class, ie. “the restored not modified class” so it would get nothing.

We also had a non-judged class for the 2009 GSX Reunion, and that was a huge success.

A non-judged class is a great way to let guys enjoy the show/event and NOT be faulted for driving their cars.

I wish them luck with the non-judged class.

This is basically what I've been advocating for. A place to for the duration of the event to park Buicks and display non-show cars. Going to bring my Stage 1 if I can.

That’s great to have a display area, I think there was talk also of having the few Iron Head Stage 2 cars there this coming spring also? If not then I’ll be in the display area with it, That’s what I’m shooting for, hopefully I’ll get it done by then!

Brent, I hope you can get your car there. I’ve been trying to get mine done for the last 10 years, since 2014. Hopefully I can get my car back together to get it to the nationals in the spring also.

I know it's a big commitment of resources to bring a car to an event but I hope you all can make it happen. It doesn't have to be perfect, just bring it!

And Duane, it would be ultra-cool to see the X-Camino make an appearance again after such a long absence. So many people have never seen it and it would be a big hit.

I don’t plan on winning, I just think it would be cool to have 2 Iron Head Stage 2’s running side by side on the 1/4 mile at BeechBend.

If you guys bring the cars we definitely need a side by side pass on Friday after the show. Even if just a normal drive down the track. It would be awesome for pics and probably the first time ever.

Also I am working hard on the 4 day display section. Lots of people never brought cars because of the show. Well now it Is perfect opportunity to sit in your chair near your car and show it off for 4 days. I personally want to see the odd ball cars, wagons, 4 doors, drivers. But I like hearing the stories of how and why we all got them..

This display area will essentially be a 4-day Buick cruise-in. I like it.

    Yes exactly.
With some prizes and trophies as well.
But mainly so we get to see the cars the majority of people have that just never brought one because they felt out of place or don't think it's a full show quality type of car.
I think and alot of people do as well that this is a huge plus for the event.
I really like seeing unique stuff that people actually use not just perfect show cars.

    Bring the car.

It will be judged as a "Bad ASS" Survivor of history.
