When assembling rear control arms and front a-arms, do you add a little grease to the shaft of the bolt to avoid potential squeals? Or is that just a dirt magnet? And anyone know the torque specs of the front and rear arms? Thanks
Don't know the torque specs off hand, but you should tighten them only when the car's full weight is sitting on them.
If it is a 70-72, here are the front end torque specs. Don't know about the grease, but I've probably greased those bolts in the past. And yeah, should have full weight of the body on the suspension while setting torque.
The grease will only help in preventing the bolt from getting frozen in the metal bushing sleeve 50 years from now....maybe. The bushing doesn't move against the bolt, the rubber moves against the sleeve which is squeezed by the bolt. That's why you have to tighten the bolts at ride height so you don't pre load or "wind up" the bushing
