Disassembled my 65 GM shifter and need to know how to lubricate it when reassembling it. Parts look to be mostly hardened steel and not painted or plated. I could use wheelbearing grease, but I am concerned it will attract abrasive dirt particles. I could also spray it with silicone, but I don't think it will stay on the parts long. Anyone know what the factory used on these shifter bodies? All help appreciated.
