WHY GOD CREATED CHILDREN (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN)

To those of us who have children in our lives, whether they are our own, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or students...here is something to make you chuckle.

Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children.

After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing he said was "DON'T!"

    "Don't what?" Adam replied.

"Don't eat the forbidden fruit." God said.

"Forbidden fruit? We have forbidden fruit? Hey Eve...we have forbidden fruit!!!!!"

    "No Way!"

    "Yes way!"

"Do NOT eat the fruit!" said God.

    "Why"

"Because I am your Father and I said so!" God replied, wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants. A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was ticked!

"Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit?" God asked.

    "Uh huh," Adam replied.

"Then why did you?" said the Father.

    "I don't know," said Eve.

    "She started it!" Adam said

    "Did not!"

    "Did too!"

    "DID NOT!"

Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own. Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

BUT THERE IS REASSURANCE IN THE STORY!

If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself. If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it wou ld be a piece of cake for you?

    THINGS TO THINK ABOUT!

    1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.

    2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children.

    3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.

    4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.

    5. The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own.

    6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.

ADVICE FOR THE DAY: Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day.

AND FINALLY: IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE, DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:

"TAK E TWO ASPIRIN" AND "KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN"

    D&B (pass the aspirin)

    Cole,
You have no idea. How's a couple of trips to the ER, blood tests, X-rays, poking & prodding to try & findout what was causing his EXTREME abdominal pain, thought it was his appendics. All tests came back normal (thank god). Turns out the kid was just blocked up, totally blocked. He's only 4 1/2 and was so brave in the ER's. He's feeling better today. Boy that mineral oil really works wonders. WHOOSH..
Sorry if this is gross to anyone.

    Have a good day
    Beth

WOW! Glad to hear that things are better today. That can be scary....Had a similar experience with my son about two years ago when he was 17.......severe abdominal pain, VERY hard time breathing, huge hives all over his body.

Took him to urgent care, then to ER, and he was then admitted to Children's Hospital.......They did every frickin' test imaginable, had a team of doctor's on it........he was in there for 9 DAYS!

The hospital staff was very thorough, very nice, rolled in a cot.....my wife and I stayed in his room with him the entire time, except to run home and shower each day......

The worst part of the deal? They never found out what it was!:eek2: After those nine days he just eventually started getting better. All they could do during those nine days was give stuff to try to minimize the symptoms.:Dou:

Sorry to ramble.......it was quite the ordeal. I'm VERY glad to hear that yours was relatively minor. It sure scares the pants off you....kind of brings things back into perspective. That old saying "If you haven't got your health......" is really true. Take care!

    Glad everything worked out!

I used to think things like this were gross. Then I had kids and it all just becomes standard operating procedure.

I am glad there was a reasonable solution that didn't involve a wheelbarrow full of medication that gets dispensed like some sort of expensive candy from the urgent(not so urgent) care PEZ dispenser. Mineral oil. Yum!

If your boy is like my boy the only thing we can hope for is a Chicken McNugget made out of Bran Fiber.

And remember, like my friend with 5 kids says: "The solution is to have more kids, it gets easier with every one you have..."

I have never been drunk enough to take that advice. 2 seems like plenty to me!

    Good luck.

    Thanks

Thanks for your kind words, Liam said he was feeling better but we shall see as the
    day goes on.

Yes Bruce we are "spoiling" him he got some new cars yesterday for being so brave
    when they took blood.

Oh joy I just got off the phone with his Doctor, I got Bi*@#ed out for Dana emailing him
and the only reason he did that is because we could not get ahold of him over the weekend
(no weekend hours & his service NEVER picked up). Then the Doctor says "if the kid was that blocked up they would have never let him go home. I need to look at the X-Ray, I think somebody over at that other ER does'nt know what they are talking about"
Grrrrrr:af: now I'm pissed, how dare he Bit** me out for an email. My kid is SICK and that is all that matters
maybe if he would get a real answering service Dana would not have had to email him. Maybe if he would have looked at Liam a little more closely when we were in the ER on Jan 1st with the same thing this would not have happened :af: :af: :af: :af: Oh yeah, the doctor also tells me NEVER to email him again.
Gee do ya think it's time to switch doctors?
Sorry for the rant, I needed to vent.

    Beth,

If my Doc. pulled something like that I'd tell her that she didn't have to worry about talking to me ever again. :af:

I've called my docs answereing service at 2am on a Sat. before and she called back 3min later as pleasant as could be... for something like that. Only my daughter was 8months and a thermometer fixed it :moonu: :eek2: :eek2:

But on the other side.... I've never tried to email them.. :Dou:

I hope everything is OK now... Good luck Doc. shopping if youre looking.:TU:

Switch docs if you can. Our pediatrician and/or the 2 pediatric nurses at our clinic that usually see the kids can be reached after hours directly. When Emma was in the hospital he even returned a call himself at 3:00 am in the morning. It would never be a problem to email, call, write, fax or even just stop in with questions. In fact our doctor set us up with a pediatric radiologist for second opinions after all the xrays were in. He always takes the time for us and never makes us feel like we are chart number xxxx111111. We switched docs once to get to him however as the first pediatrician was not to our liking.

    Good luck!

    Re: Thanks

I'd stop in the jerk MD's office and turn his ear BLUE! If he doesn't want anybody sending him an email, don't give the address! And besides, how much of a "disturbance" is a friggin' email?!?! What a pompous ass.

Grrrrrrrr....I'd make sure his email got as widely distributed as possible, to every porn site on earth.

I don't get riled up over much, but I stopped taking cr*p from doctors a long time ago, when I realized my time is just as valuable as theirs.

Well... I still need to go see Liam's doctor, he wants to see the X-Ray. He has late hours tomorrow so I'll go in then. I just hope I don't lose it on him, I'm known at that hospital for doing that (went off on one of my dad doctors a couple of years ago.... he got fired). I will try to say calm this time.... as long as he says what I want to hear.

Again, Thanks everyone for the kind words & support.
The Boo is doing allot better (he must be he did a flying body tackel off the couch & onto me last night).

Beth, I'm glad to hear that he's feeling better. Kids are so pathetic when they're sick - you feel so badly for them. Fortunately, they bounce back faster than we do!

I agree with everyone else about the doctor. After you consult with him, though. Most other doctors believe in answering services, at least.

I hope he doesn't have to go through this again.

    Take care,

    ShariB

Loyd's doing pretty good, he's coming home Thursday. He's having computer withdrawal, that's for sure! I'll be glad when he's here.

Thanks for the good wishes - he appreciates it.

I know this thread is about kids but I must correct you on the "apple break". It does NOT say that the Apple is the forbidden fruit anywhere in the Good Book. I do hope things go better for you and your kids. Rob
