  2. In and effort to reduce the spam on the site, several years ago I had went to a program where I manually approve each and every new registration. This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

Well winter is here. Most years, that would mean that I put the Buick away for the next few months.

This year, it means that I will be putting the Buick away until 2006. I am returning to school full time, and due to economic conditions it is not possible to register/insure/feed (gas)/maintain the Buick while I am in school.

It is a very sad day for me. I've owned this car since 1986 (it was my first car!) and I feel like we've been through a lot together. I never even knew what a carb was before I had this car!

I will still own the car, however it will be stored (in a garage) about 1000 miles away.

The odds of me driving the car before 2006 are amazingly close to the same odds of me winning the lottery.

I want to thank all the people that have helped make it the car what it is- people like Mike @ TA Performance, Force Fuel Injection, Top Gun Nitrous, and a lot of local shops whose names noone would recognize, etc.

And as we all know, it's the people that make the Buick world so great- the people that run this board (especially Jim Weiss who makes an awesome torque convertor), the people who participate in the board (that's you!), John Csordas / Rick Martinez (who run the NE GSCA Chapter), Roberta V., Al F. (GS Thunder), the New England Buick Racing Association, and everyone else in the Buick community. Props to all.

This will be a very long winter (2.5 years) and today I am sad.

    -Bob Cunningham

p.s. I will miss you most of all, Scarecrow!

You're not alone... It's been painful to see my Wagon sitting up on blocks for a year.

At the very least, you'll be motivated to get through school!

I know the feeling, I'm being parted from my car for quite a while. I can't afford my car at this time, so it's at my dad's house. But, he promised to drive it for me.

I KNOW how you must feel! I've drove my car 4-5 times (during 2000) since 1996!!!!:gt:

I'm HOPING to make it less than a decade until I get to drive it REGULARLY, like I did from 96 and previous!

    Bob,

Better to put her away then to sell her and regret it. Just keep checking to make sure the mice don't do any damage, invest in moth balls and fabric softener all around and inside the car and under the hood along with a couple of open boxes of baking soda, it may help to keep the little buggers away. Just think after 2-3 years taking it back out it will be like getting a new car all over again and it won't cost a dime!

School is important as this may lead to better paying jobs...better paying jobs mean...more parts and upgrades for your Buick or better yet...more Buicks in the stable:Brow:

Best of luck and stay in contact with the rest of us.

    Bob,

Glad you chose to stow rather than sell.

    However, do it right...

Drain all fluids - oil and rad! Trans too if you can. Especially drain the gas and run her dry. You DON'T want 3 year old gas in there when you try to restart her.

    Plug the tailpipes with rags.

Put her on jack stands or swap your good tires for used bad ones. Guaranteed to go flat.

    PULL THE BATTERY!!!!!

    Good luck in school!
