I am in need of a good running 350 or at least a complete set of heads off of a
    good running 350.

Preferably somewhere in NY (North of Poughkeepsie), but looking for any option at this point.

Mine is to the point where its too bad and since summer is here I dont really have the time to rebuild it :(

    Thanks in advance

    350 heads etc

eric : i have a set of "take off" 69 2bbl heads and 75 4bbl heads . the 69 motor was in only fair shape at best and i did not hear that motor run . the 75 motor i heard run before the engine was pulled - sounded ok ? probably needed a tune at least or a basic valve job and head check at the most . i also have a set of 69 heads that have had a check up and valve job and new seals . guides were deemed ok by the shop that did the valve job and by the guy that did my good heads . he also rechecked the 69 heads and did a bowl work etc and installed some new TA single valve springs . these heads are painted and ready to go . the "take offs" will be cheap ( maybe $30 each for the 69's , $40 each for the 75's plus gas if needed ) , the 69's won't ( maybe around $450/pair - would have to check the bills on that ) . i am located down I-88 about an hour s-west of albany . i know where you are basically , used to live in cambridge ny and my dad had a used car lot in bennington vt when i got out of the service in 73 . used to swing through albany area etc once in awhile . i have some extra blocks , pistons, cranks , valves , etc . if i sell the good heads i can go right to the real good heads i guess . buzz me if interested , maybe meet half way or something . thanks . del.

    Hey Del,
    Thanks for the reply!

I have a potential deal going here locally for a whole new engine but for 30 a piece for ready to run take off heads I will probably still be interested! If we meet half wait I'll pay your gas plus buy you lunch or something.

Do you know if I'd have to do anything special to run '69 heads on my '70 350??? I have a 2bbl 350. Would it raise my compression or anything?

    Thanks again,
    Eric

    update / fyi

eric : i did not hear the 69 motor run . the condition of that motor upon teardown / looksee was marginal at best . so the running condition of those heads is not known . i just gave them a quick look . trust me - for $30 each i will promise they are rebuildable or i'll get you your money back . to be decent i would guess they will need at least a quick valve job and seals . pay attention to valve stem height and guide "play" . after that it is whatever your budget allows . i don't think you will pick up any noticable compression on a '70 . the 69's oiled through the head and your 70 probably oils through the pushrods - different valvetrain . if you have the stamped steel style rocker arms it is through the pushrod . i think you need to block the oil feed hole going through the head or may loose some oil pressure and use your 70 pushrods and rockers etc . i can't remember for sure but there may have been something about some early 70's motors used the old style oiling ? i need to bone up on that too as i will probably be using early heads on a 75 block . later on i may have a good running low mile 69 350 to get rid of but that is down the road a ways . del

Thanks for the Clearification. Im sure they are better than my heads (or I think thats the problem - I havent pulled them to find out) althought Im sure mine are rebuildable. I've got some serious detonation that I can't shake and My hunch is probably that my valves arent seating properly causing a low compression issue. What do I know thought?

I'll keep you posted, thanks!

P.s. once I get it running, we should still meet up for lunch :bglasses:

I have a 69 GS 350 engine still in the car that I'm going to be selling. You can hear it run, drive it etc if you like. Runs fantastic, makes tons of power. Asking $350.00 for the engine, carb to pan.
