I really think that I am hearing from the Lord about this. I keep having this urge to take my 64 Riv. along with some cold cokes on ice to the local parking lots where the young people hang out, along with several $10 gift certificates from my local Advance auto supply and just see if I can minister to the kids there. Now I am an old fossil. I don't intend to preach. Just be freinds, talk cars, hand out the gift certificates, cold drinks and let them know that they need to just be freinds with God.
Christ, always went to where the people were, He did not wait on them to come to him, a bunch of them did, but He was always willing to go to where they were and meet them on their level.
    What do you think??????????

I've been thinking for a year now about putting together a cruise-in at our church. We have a real big parking lot. We could probably hold about 100 cars for show and another couple hundred for lookers. But I have no idea how to organize something like that. But it's probably a great way to get people there without "getting all holy" with them.

I am considering organizing some Christian cruise nights, possibly a show, but I also have no idea how to proceed.

Sounds like a great plan! God's blessings on ya'!

I am in my second year of putting on a show at my local church, but everything I know I learned from "Sharkmonkey" (Mark Stover). I'll let him take the lead, but if we don't hear from him within a day or two I'll jump in.

I'm kind of the opposite; I find I'm not very strong with the social aspect (like standing around in the parking lot) but do much better when behind a pupit. That aspect works pretty well for me in the race ministry.

One of our local churches (www.glenkirkchurch.org) has a yearly car show. They have a tremendous turnout each year. They do it in conjuction with a food drive for a local food bank. They keep the preaching very low key (if you don't care to participate, you don't have to), but it's very clear that God is part of the show. I don't miss it, even before I had a car to show.

Doc, sounds like a great plan. I've been sitting on the same thought for the past couple of days... Christ went to the people (The Great Commission says "Go!"), he didn't wait for them to come to him, although they did do that.

    Go for it!

Finally got a picture of me speaking at the dragstrip. This is from the NSCA race at Atco, day before yesterday:

And - as promised, here is the "checklist" I got from Mark ("Sharkmonkey") in a PM last year. His show is in August, so adjust the timing accordingly:

I'm probably missing something but here goes:

Jan.-Feb. - Review car show calendars and pick a date with the least amount of conflict.
March - Design car show flyers. Design sponsor request letter.
March/April - Begin sponsor search and door prize collection.
June - Design and order dash plaques. Design and order trophies.
July - Flood the area with flyers.
August - Pick up the food for concessions.

    Here's what else I do:
-Create a playlist of music to play over the PA
-Attend car shows to hand out flyers
-List our show on as many web sites as possible
    -Create a free web site
-Get a volunteer to handle the concessions
-Get a Volunteer to handle the kids activities
-Contact local car clubs to get our show in their newsletters
-Create window signs for the cars
-Create sandwich boards to advertise in some nearby intersections

We have a boyscout troop using our church as a meeting place so we're, in turn, going to use them as a resource.

Great tips!!!! I've been thinking about a cruize nite at our church too. I,ve seen a couple of hot rods in the parking lot Sunday mornings. There is always a crowd around them after Church!
