Finally got the Sportwagon to the body shop for a door repair after I backed into the rear passenger door with my SSR with trailer hitch, ouch! This is a car that was taken down to bare metal (and found no rust) by the previous owner who was a body shop owner too. Beautiful PPG Concept Black paint job to match cowl tag color code which was black. I am making it a GS400 Sportwagon clone which Buick did not make but being a beautiful black I could not resist the temptation. Rebuilt GS400 engine goes in after we finish the interior which is ready to go back in as soon as body work done.

While at the body shop I said lets paint the door jambs since they were not done on the original repaint as they were in decent condition. Also mentioned while doors were off would they loosen up the dried up grease on the electric windows plus I bought Steele rubber to replace all the original weather seal rubber on doors and tail gate.

When I showed up today to check on progress I heard about all the things that had to be removed to get the doors and tailgate off. Everything was in great shape with no rust but several of the screws on the door hinges needed to be persuaded with heat to loosen up. As usual I underestimated the amount of work and man hours to get the work done but these guys are perfectionists and will do a great job.

Once body is done I have a GS400 hood with scoops that will be painted and installed and then we put two red pin stripes from front to back at the body seam both sides to go with my new red stripe BF Goodrich radials. Disk brakes go on the front when we do the engine. Probably 6-8 weeks from being completed but have a deadline of July 5-8 in Brookfield, MI for the BCA 2017 National Meet.

Will provide updates as time goes on. This is fun as long as I don't add up the check stubs
