Hey guys , I am looking for the easy way out of loosing the rag joint on my 69 gs. The car build started out as a street/strip car but looks like more strip than street now. I have the stock manual steering from factory and would like to keep as much of it as I can. I have looked at many u-joints and trying to find an easy fit if there is one. Thanks

Try Borgeson. I use their stainless steel version on my GS with their shaft and upper u-joint.

Go to your local circle track shop. They'll have what you need on the shelf

Thanks to all. So I should come off the spline end of my column with a u-joint borgeson replace my stock shaft and use theirs. What you refer to as a stainless steel version is it a u-joint , or s.s. version of a rag joint to fit the spline end of my steering box ? I am just trying to figure what you did John.

Thank you, so is there a universal coming off the column also ?

No. There's no other universal.....67's have a 1 piece shaft, there's no intermediate shaft.

64 -66 was a one piece,..1967 federal government mandated a collapsible steering shaft

I know, I refer it as a one piece because there's no intermediate shaft and it pretty much is one piece until a frontal collision. :)

What's the purpose for elimination of the rag joint?

Makes it tighter,..more responsive and frees up a little more room,...plus looks more better

We did it for header clearance, the rag joint was rubbing no.1 tube. Plus, like Ethan said....it does look much better as a bonus.
