I want to get my 4-speed Muncie rebuilt this winter and have heard there's a guy in the East (???...) that does a real good job....anyone have his name/contact info??..thanks Chris
I have used Don Downey 330-758-3850 Nice guy:TU: he even prefers you stay and watch or help with the rebuild. He has many new and used Muncie parts. He is in Austintown near Youngstown Tony
Thanks Tony.....ther's a guy that i keep hearing about that frequents this board who is up in the east coast area......trying to find him. sound familiar to anyone??..
Dennis Maroudas-- Williamson WV He even did something like a 30s caddy trans for the father of another board member. He is an engineer by formal training. 606 237-6648 He is doing a 442 Muncie trans for me currently.
If you talk to Dennis you will be suprised at the details and so many twists and turns one can take in a rebuild -- gear ratio, gear manuf, case machine work, tire rear ratio measurements for the speedo gear selection etc.
I used Ed Hartnett. He does all the Corvette Muncies. GREAT place - price, shipping, everything. A-1 in my book. EH4Speeds@aol.com Ed Harnett 4-Speeds, 610-623-9381, PA; He is in Pennsylvania, and has been doing it since 1974.
Chris, I had Ed Hartnett completely go through my Stage 1 4-speed transmission and he did a perfect job. Very detailed, asked good questions, will outline exactly what you need or want. I can pretty much promise you he will do a great job for you.
Thanks all.....spoke to Jim's guy in WVA and was very impressed on the phone....gonna pull it out next week and ship it off......Tom, email sent with pics of dog dishes......
Chris-- Dennis M has a big Pontiac following as well as MOPARS. But he does 3 speeds and old odd ball trans than no one else will touch. He is a real problem solver and a craftsman. he loves the challenge of solving a puzzle.
