I'm getting ready to install an under dash gauge pod in my 71 skylark. I have the temp/volts/oil pressure setup and am looking for tips / tricks to make the installation an easy one. If anyone has detailed instructions (besides the generic ones that came with the unit) or a link, I would appreciate the help.
    Thanks, Mark

the generic instructions are basic but correct . just use a little common sense , have a little extra patience and donot use teflon tape for a thread sealer , u lose the ground ; use a thread stick to seal the threads . u will probably have to drill a hole in the firewall to pass the wiring & oil pressure line through . by the way donot use a plastic line for the oil pressure from the oil pressure sending unit , buy a metal line .
i am pretty handy around a car , but it took me half a day to install my "autometer" gauges in their pod on the lower dash above the console .

Make sure you have a good ground. Then check the ground again. Look for a grey wire to splice the lights into, that is the dimmer controlled wire. You can use a male spade connector to go directly into the fuse block. You will find the connections in the middle of the fuse block. I would wire the voltmeter positive connection there. Do NOT connect into the pink wire that is the ignition wire and is a resistant wire. Get the copper tube kit for your oil pressure gauge. I had the plastic and a nice leak (no rust under that part of the carpet!)

I just did mine by making an Aluminium radio delete plate into a guage panel. At my age it is a lot easier to see the guages there.
