My dad wqas helping me look for a new car since the piece of Chevy I was driving was on its last legs and quickly putting me in the poor house. He called me and said there was something I had to see at a dealer up in Anaheim. Dropped by Dad's that morning and picked up him and my brother to make the trip. We pulled into an Olds dealer and they had this Silver/Black/Black 1970 GS350 sitting on the lot. It was stone stock right down to the G78-14 bias plys and AM/FM radio. We were told to go ahead and take it out for test drive and see the salesman when we got back. Guess they figured with Dad along I'd behave. Their boo boo. We went out and didn't really get on it until we were on our way back. At a stop light about 2 miles from the dealer, a jacked up Mustang with big tires pulled up next to us. Dad looked over at him and then turned to me and said "Take him." Not being one to argue with my father (hee hee) I obliged the guy. The light went green and that little 350 sent us three car lengths ahead of that Mustang almost from the start. He didn't catch us until we stopped for the next light, including coast down and stopping time!! When we got back to the dealer, I nochalantly got out and told the sales geek "I'll take it."

Do you guys ever go to the Pavillions car show over in Scottsdale? I hit that one once in a while but mostly to the one at 35th ave and Northern at the Hilibertos. That one is a small gathering (maybe 50 - 60 cars on a big night) but these are all pretty much high level cars. There are NO Buicks represented at that one. There is one guy that goes to the Pavillions show that has a 70 GS 455. The story is that this car has been everything from a daily driver all the way to a strip only, stripped down car. It is back in street trim now and looks pretty good except for the hood scoop. Dark green as I remember. Drop me a note to mrslater1@cox.net.
