Does any one know if somebody makes a factory style fuel pickup/sending unit that goes in a stock gas tank with a 90 ohm sending unit that has a 1/2 inch pickup tube instead of the stock 3/8 inch tube? http://gn.gs/images/media/gs/1970_gs001a.jpg http://gn.gs/images/media/gs/1970_gs001b.jpg http://gn.gs/images/media/gs/1970_gs001d.jpg http://gn.gs/images/media/gs/1970_gs001e.jpg http://gn.gs/images/media/gs/1970_gs001f.jpg
1/2 inch pickup i just went through this on my car. u can pull out the return line by cutting it off, thendrill it out to 1/2 inch. use a piece of 1/2 inch alluminum line bend to fit kinda tough but i did make the length of the new one stop about 1 inch before the end of the pick up screen. i straped it in place with fine soild copper wire. worked out good. good luck scott:Smarty: really seemed to help my performance after hitting 2nd gear pulls alot harder have not got to the track yet for numbers but hopfully thur. at norwalk
Thanks for the advise. If I can't find one thats already been modifide by someone else, I'll have to try doing it my self. Rick
Contact our own Jim Wiese @ Tri-Shield Performance. He was doing Hi-Flow tank pick-ups last years and even posted pics. They looked awsome....:TU:
I have a gas tank from my 65 Skylark that has the 1/2in. pick up "mod". I cut out the stock pick-up and put in an AN -8 bulkhead fitting, and a longer aluminum 1/2 in pickup. I'm not sure about the 90 ohms sending unit, but this one did work, seemed to read alittle lower after the mod. This system worked great, I fed a Dominator carb. and a nitrous unit from this, to low 10 second performance, never a fuel problem. If your interested, measure your tank and get back to me, I'll sell the whole tank, no dents or leaks, plus straps for $80. Gary G.
problem solved Well, I've decided to take out my stock gas tank and put a 20 gallon fuel cell in my trunk. It's going to cost the same either way I go. Plus the fuel cell already has -8An 1/2 inch hook ups for both feed and return lines and even a 90 ohm sending unit. Thanks for everybodys input.........Rick
