Is there anything special about the buick mechanical fuel pump. I'm looking for a higher capacity pump for nitrous use. James
Sorry, but you will need to use an electric pump to get the necessary pressure and volume for a nitrous setup. Mike
Electric pump? Yea, that was my fear. I suppose I need to install one in the tank? Or can I get away with an inline external pump?
I have used the non adjustable 125 HP NOS kit with a stock AC fuel pump with no problems. Carter makes a higher volume mechanical pump also. Poston has it, and T/A likely does as well. I wouldn't mess with an electric unless it was completely necessary. You really should wire in an oil pressure safety switch if you do go electric.
fuel pumps buick powered, TA and poston no longer carry the high perf. fuel pumps for the 350. I called about 3 months ago to poston and they said carter no longer mfgs. the pumps any longer. you will need to go to an electric in line pump. a holley "blue" or "red" pump would work just fine. make sure if you use the "blue" that you also use a regulator so you don't have too much pressure going to the carb.:TU:
Jeff, Thanks for the info. I've been doing some research, looks like my reg, should be set at no more than 7 psi for the carb? Does that sound about right? I'm also thinking about replacing my fuel line, but do you think I can get away with out it? James
I use a 1/2" feed line and equal size return from the regulator. This may seem like some overkill, but it is actually what most of the fuel companies like Aeromotive will recommend. Cost between the 3/8 and 1/2" line is minimal. If you would like, send me an e-mail and I will give you a list for a full fuel system. Mike T XSPerformance@iwon.com
Re: fuel pumps Man, that sux. I wonder if Holley still makes theirs. I have one of those still in the box...
