Wondering what type of fuel line is better and easier to work with? Aluminum or Stainless Steel? Also is it better go directly from the tank or could I tie the new stuff to the old stuff somewhere down the line? One last question, does it help if I go to a bigger line?

From what I hear going to bigger line helps. If you need to tie 2 pieces of metal line together, then the -AN fittings offer a compression fitting. Make up a short piece of braided line with a compression fitting on each end and connect it to each piece of fuel line. No worries about cracking and stuff...

From a guy who almost lost his GS to an engine fire once, mild steel with no Mickey Mouse cobbled in anywhere. Old stuff - depends on how rusty and scary looking it is. One of my favorite tools I've invested in is a tubing bender and a flaring kit.
