I Have A 67' Wildcat. I Was Thinking About Doing A Fuel Injection Kit On. I Was Woundering About How Much Better Fuel Economy You Will Get And Horsepower And All The Other Stuff.

In my opinion, you shouldn't even consider it. Mechanical fuel injection is so troublesome it will be no advantage over a carburetor, and EFI will require so much money and fabrication and tuning you will regret it.

    A 67 Wildcat should be just what it is...a 430 4bbl!

    Just my thoughts...

"Improve your performance, fuel economy and driveability with one single upgrade. TA Performance Fuel Injection
Systems are state-of-the-art, incorporating the performance features that you want with the quality of OEM systems for ease
of installation and dependability. Intake ships plumbed as shown and all necessary hardware, software, wiring and
instructions are included. The system will need to be installed, some fuel lines will have to be altered and added, then the
combination will need to be initially tuned by a shop with a chassis dyno. After the initial tune, the system will be able to
compensate for weather and elevation changes, etc. Results vary based on each combination but 6-8 more miles per gallon
are average and 20-75 HP gains have been reported.

    I've done it.

Figure it will cost you between $2500 and $5000, and between a weekend and a month for installation & tuning.

I've had two versions. First I had the throttle body injection (Holley Projection). Works good. Now I have port FI on my 455 and it is nice, but it was expensive. I spent more on that than I will probably ever save on gas, even though I have about 60000 miles on it now.

Your wildcat did not come from Buick with fuel injection. Anyone who buys it would know that, and might see FI as a drawback since the person will have to learn how to program the FI with a computer and all that.

Instead, you should tune up the car- get the carb working right, put in new plugs, wires & ignition, etc. Even a complete engine rebuild could cost less than a port FI setup! You will get more MPG from a good tuneup than converting to FI.

As much as I like my FI, it is only for "certain" applications.

I have upgraded from an Accel DFI to the FAST XFI. I like them both but the XFI has many more features plus has a much faster processor. I may be willing to sell the Accel DFI ECM (part number 74042) with software and computer cables along with the wiring and injector harness for a Buick 455 (no manifold or injectors).

Bob, I think I may have asked this a long time ago, but what sort of fuel pickup assembly do you have? I inserted a 255 lph pump into my tank for my carbureted application, but I think it experiences too much slosh at less that about 1/3 tank for a FI system.

I had to modify my tank

"but I think it experiences too much slosh at less that about 1/3 tank for a FI system"

I had to install a custom modified tank with a baffled area that always keeps fuel at the pickup. If this is not there you can get hesitation when turning sharply or accelerating quickly with a low fuel level.
