After doing some digging I found that a replacement for the front lower control arm to lower shock mount capture nut is available. The original has a square nut welded to the spring clip and the replacement is formed from one piece and round at the threads. The threads are the same. I doubt that you could tell the difference after it is installed. In the picture below the original is on the right and the replacement is on the left. The GM part number is 339715. I got this from a Chevy dealer. Note that GM part number 371964 is the same but with metric threads. Must be for a later A body. - Bill
