Has anyone tried this new style POA valve from Old Air? I’m trying to keep the car original as possible and don’t like the of idea of cutting into the original harness or how this new valve looks. I still have the factory Frigidaire valve, just not sure if that’s still usable and if it could be converted to R134a.
That is not a POA valve. It's an orifice tube and pressure switch assembly that changes the system from a POA type to a CCOT type system. Basically, instead of using the POA and expansion valves to control the the evaporator pressure and temp., the compressor is cycled off and on as evaporator pressure dictates. It works, but not as well as the original design. It's also hard on the A6 clutch which wasn't intended to cycle constantly.
I believe there is someone who re-calibrates the POA for 134. They cut them apart, do the work, and put them back together. However, many folks here simply make the switch with just new o-rings. Also, that kit looks like it is for later models.
that just converts your fittings from r12 to r134 has nothing to do with poa valve. you need them still though. you want to swap to green orings on everything as well when doing this swap. video how to adjust your factory one.
