I have a short shaft TH400 from a '78 Cadillac free to a good home. It has a TransGo shift kit in it. The front bearing in the converter went out, so this tranny needs to be pulled apart and cleaned. Pick up only in Grand Haven Michigan.
Hi John, Can it be modified into a switch pitch? I would like to put it into a 64 Lark with a 350. According to what I've read they can change any th400 in to a 3 sp switch pitch, 65 to 70 are the more desirable years. Your 2 hours closer to me than the one I am currently looking at on ebay. Phil - it's not so far! Bruce - I think that you need to change the pump in order to change to a S-P as well as change the converter. Search on this site, check with Jim Burek or Jim Weise, or maybe George Nenanodovitch has something on his site.
Hi John, I looked and it will need a pump and converter change. I didn't think it could be done to a th400 that new. I'm going to do more research, I'll leave it open for someone else to pick up. It's going to be an 8 hr drive oneway for me, and my times booked till end of October. Thanks Bruce
I'm intrested is that where the shuttle from milwaukee to the other side of the lake is? i'm intrested in the trans but don't want to hawl around thru chicago. i was also thinking on if we can send "freight" across the lake via shuttle. edit - darnit its Muskegon where it leaves from -nate
Well, Muskegon is just up the road. If you look into the shipping, I might be able to drop it off. And I'm not so cool, I just have a really small garage and I'm tired of tripping over this thing.
