:gp: I meant to remark about how it would have better on Phoenix's part to get the exact cost before agreeing to take the parts. And right when DeeVeeEight said to PM name and address, Phoenix should have Pm'd the info along with an explanation of how the cost was a huge factor and please send an exact cost before shipping - PLUS, Phoenix should have caught that DeeVeeEight said "UPS" not "USPS" and pointed out that he preferred the cheaper shipping method.

The deal fell apart during the terms, which were not fully understood by both parties.

Phoenix - sorry to be a bit harsh in my posting. It's easy for some of us to say "$9 is nothing! Just pay it." Most of us though, have been where you are (pinching pennies) and can see where the opportunity cost (ROI) is beneficial to us, even when the immediate outlay doesn't seem like it. And most of us can understand your surprise at the additional cost. But, we are saying that since you got a freebie (in parts), that the amount of extra cost should warrant more effort on your side to remedy the disagreement considering the value of what you got. And, whether he was going to throw them out or not - they have value.

Even if you are completely correct in this situation (I, and others will disagree, but for sake of argument), and DeeVeeEight maliciously "took" you for $9 extra shipping cost - but the $9 isn't worth the loss of potential advice, help, assistance, and 'face' you will lose in the long run. And, if money's that tight - sell one of the 3 parts to recoup the $9 and send it over - if nothing else, just to stop all of us from lecturing!

Choose your battles wisely - sometimes it's ok to just voice your opposition and move on - and you'll be better off for it.

Sorry to have poked my head into this - it's making me feel like a crotchety old nag!

Seriously Jacob, send the parts back to DeeVeeEight and I will be more than happy to cover the cost. The only thing I ask is that DeeVeeEight posts a picture of the parts going into the garbage truck and for it to be posted here.

I completely agree with Speedtigger's comments. It was miscommunication.

It seems that many transactions though message boards end with very hurt feelings. Although only two people are involved, everyone takes sides and in most cases the judgement for or against is one-sided. For example, I was once chastised for chiming in on somebody's trailer deal that went bust. In another case on another Buick board, I was slaughtered for saying that I would sell a particular part on ebay in order to make it fair for everyone. In this case, two sides cannot agree on $9. Wow... I'm not even going to get into whose at fault in this case because I don't know, but I've sure developed the attitude that commerce on a message board, any message board, is an activity that should be avoided at all costs. It's too much trouble with too many crybabies involved (you get to pick who's the crybaby in this case, I can't tell). :ball:

Thank you all for a very good laugh!

The $21.00 and parts are nothing to me - let it go.

And I do agree Speedtigger, excellent posting!
