If anyone out there is mocking up for a BBB, I've got a clean bare block for you. Its no good to build unless you're building some crazy SOHC/DOHC motor since the lifter valley is missing. I'm in PA (19331), and again... free for the taking. :Brow:
I would like to have all five main caps. If nobody will come and get it, Mail me the main caps (all five) and I will pay the postage. just the caps, no bolts (have them).
Victor--I still have the block, but unless you want to do surgery to the lifter bore its useless for a build. Michael--I'm going to hang onto the maincaps, but if anything changes you'll be the first to know.
455 Block Thanks Mike For Reply I Guess I Will Have To Find One Somewhere Let Me Know If There Is One Out There Anywhere Thanks Again Victor
The #5 & 6 rods spun and broke clean off the crank journal. The 5 rod ended up out of the pan, the big end of the 6 bounced up and took out the cam. Once the cam fell through the rotating assembly in 4 pieces, the 6 finished the job and took out the back 8 lifter bosses. Miraculously, the motor was still running after all this on just the front 4 cylinders with 45psi on my oil pressure gauge.
hmm, im new to the world of buick motors but does the 455 use the same parts as a 401? 2 of my cylndar walls are cracked big enough to put a pencil through.
a 401 is a Nailhead engine (1953?-1966) while the 455 is a 'Big Block' (1967-1976). they share bore center spacing but not much else. i believe even the trans bells are a different pattern. http://www.teambuick.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9402
