Leaving this coming week to pick it up in NJ. 98K mile car barn stored from CT. Does not have the rot associated with a Yankee car. My Chalet Blue '60 convertible has bucket seats and so does this one !
Blue with a red interior? Back in the early 60s, I was working at a Ford dealership. Ford published color charts - they had dozens of color combinations. Some interior/exterior combinations were "suggested", others were "not available", and a few were "available but not recommended". Blue exterior with a red interior was "available but not recommended." I remember this because I kinda like the combination. Nice find!
Do I see the knob for a floor shifter in one of those pics? Might you want to drop that off at my place on your way home?
Actually, I found this for a very good friend and he is buying it. I'm picking it up for him. He will restore it . It will keep him from bugging me about my '60. What's cool is that there will be 2 '60 Electra convertibles with factory buckets within 5 miles. My friend has a Titian Red '60 LeSabre convertible right now at my place that he will be selling soon. In fact a guy I deal with is probably going to buy it.
Don't know if your interested. Saw this on Craigs list.......................http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/pts/3850752628.html
OK Junkman: I was wondering about that blue convert in New Jersey. If I remember. the motor was locked up and the body side moldings were mia. Where are you located? I guess the Titian and the buckets were the deal maker. The one on Chi-town CL? I called the guy several months ago. The motor and trans are out of the car, the front clip is disassembled and laying on the car for the picture, he claimed all the parts were there but without an actual physical photo inventory who really knows? I would have made a play for it if it were priced right but between his price, the shipping and so many unknowns I figured it was best to let it go. I happen to have every part, nut, bolt, fastener, piece of trim and anything else you can think of to put it together. The Electra flattop he also had sounded like it might not have been that bad but adding up the similar criteria it wasn't that enticing. There's always room for another 60 Electra convert in my garage though! Mitch.
Engine is stuck for now but we can get it spinning free. It has only 92K on it. The $1500. worth of brand new Coker whitewalls was another deal clincher. Just one front fender molding is missing. The previous owner reportedly had a little over 10K tied up in this car and bailed out. I think this was a good deal.
