Found a spring on my intake manifold

    Hey guys!

    64 Wildcat 3-speed w/ 401 and Carter AFB w/ hot-air choke.

I might be wrong on the names of the parts, but I've tried my best looking at my MOTOR'S Auto Repair Manual from 1970 to figure out what they are.

I just found what I believe to be the Secondary Throttle Return Spring laying between my intake manifold and valve cover. I'm not sure if it broke? Or how/where/which way it's supposed to go? Perhaps someone can show me a picture of the passenger side of their AFB?

Also the screw came out of the Secondary Operating Lever. (or maybe it was the Primary Throttle Shaft Outer Arm -- confusing diagram).

Anyway, I put that screw back in from whence it came, with the rectangular washer. - Is this supposed to go snug or as tight as I can make it? I just snug'd it up for now.

    Any advice would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

  2. Pete,

A factory service manual will show you where everything goes. These are always on eBay in both print and CD-ROM versions.

I'd look in my manual and tell you, but I am work.

Yeah, my MOTORS manual shows me a good breakdown of the carb.. I'm just bad at reading diagrams! I've an idea "where" the spring goes, but not "how" if ya know what I mean! That and the fact that perhaps its bent/broken on one end and thats whats screwing me up!

Right now I've got it in a shop having the rear axle seals/wheel bearings replaced, so I'm just gonna drop the spring on the guy's desk and say "put this on please!" ... they're a pretty good shop.

But I'd still be interested in knowing where it goes.. before it goes there!
