    OK guys,

I have been looking at trailers on the web and e-bay and what I really want to know is what should I absolutely have with a trailer and what can I live without. Right now I am leaning towards an open rig, but if everything flows right, an enclosed might come into play. Again, keep in mind that my car is a real pig weighing in at the 4000 lb mark.:Do No:

Whats your tow vehicle? I went from an open to a 24' enclosed. If I had the cash I would have made the switch earlier. Also went from a 1500 Dodge to a 3500 GMC dually

Read the trailer tires thread. Tires are a big issue

  4. make sure with the new trailers when you buy it is wide enough as well for the older cars. some of the newer trailers just arn't wide enough. even the inclosed ones.
go for the heavier 7 to 9000 lb raiting on the trailer axles. that trailer will tow much better than the lighter axles that some people get by with.
and of course make sure it is a dual axle, nothing more or less than that.
if you buy it from a dealer tell him to hook it up and take it for a test drive. or rent the trailer you want for a trip and see how it goes for you befor you buy it.
i have an advantage as i can rent one for $65 a day with thoughs qoutes if my brother inlaws trailers are to busy. other wise i just borrow from him

My brother Rick is thinking of selling his open trailer (my old one). It's very heavy duty, extra long on the back and tows like a dream. I put a ton of money in it when I had it. Plan to bring it to Norwalk. Did everything I needed it to do.

    Price would be right.

If you decide to go enclosed, call Evans Trailer down in Springfield. That's where dad just got his 24', finished interior, extra interior lights, for like $5500 out the door. I had always heard Jim's up in Cuba on I44 was THE place to buy trailers, as they've always got what seems like 100 or so trailers on the grounds, but Evans (surprisingly) had them beat pretty handily. In fact, Jim's tried to sell us a comparably equipped used '02 for $4900...needless to say, we went the new route.

First, I am excited about today. I attended an all-GM show at KCIR and it was a great day. Very hot and humid, but the car has a new best time of 13.71 @ 100.07. That chopped a tenth off the previous best. That and the car scored a top 50 award.

On the trailer thing, I am probably leaning towards an open trailer. To view the one I am looking at, you can check out Terry's Trailers. I am looking at the Racer's special which is a 20' open with a 3' tall x 3' wide x 8' long box in front. The trailer is tubular frame, diamond plate steel, 4' dovetail, attached ramps... What I was wanting to know is about the add ons. I know that 2 5/16th ball is better than 2" but should I go for the second braking axle. It sounds as if the idea of larger wheels and tires may be of a benefit later.

Another open trailer that I am looking at is the Speedloader EX from H&H trailer . Things I am dreaming of.

  9. if you go with only one axle haveing brakes make sure its the back one. the axles are usually taged together with the shackels and will give alot if the frot one only does the braking. the rear axle will just tighten up and drag. i'd go with both braking. most have that
