So after I rebuilt my carb it ran rough. So I took it apart again and then ordered new idle screws and got a high flow needle and seat. Well, now the carb floods a lot when trying to start. It won't even start. I thought maybe I mismeasured the float setting and took it apart and remeasured. Book value was 13/32" for a 1971. Other years were about 10/32" to 12/32". So I kept it closer to 12. Put it back on today and gas is pouring out the top of the carb. Thoughts?

Solved that problem. Had the float measurement off a lot.

haha ha !! been there and done that. Now if you dont change your oil , when you drive on the freeway and do a hard pull , you will get a nice smoke screen , burning the gas out of the oil.

Even if I am 100% sure I have the float(s) set right on a rebuild I always turn the Carb upside down and blow into the fuel inlet, if I hear no air passing then I know I am good to bolt her on!
