    Gary,
Yes the hood was media blasted and they said they have never seen that on any other sheet metal before. Shows how gently they blast sheet metal. Thanks S&S striping in Sterling Heights, MI

If Gary is judging , Im not bringing my car .. ;) . Had the pleasure of walking through concours with him last year . Picking out stuff ( not criticizing ) while some of the judges were strugling with simple finishes .

I think it's because a lot of them are most familiar with'70 for instance .
A few years ago when we had some 65/67 in Concours , put some people in a tail spin . I was pleased to see the variety , and hope to see more in the future.

    DL,
Quite a few years ago we talked a few of the 67 guys into putting their cars in Concours at the GSCA. Then we asked Larry Miller to come over and help Judge them. Larry probably knew more about 67 cars then anyone ever will. Anyway he was thrilled about it and we gave him the job to judge under the hood, which is usually the hardest job there is. He did a fantastic job and thanked us many times for the invite.

Years later, when he was sick, I gave him a complete copy of a 67 Assembly manual at another GSCA event. I had to run and couldn't stay, but I was told later he spent hours checking it out, and verifying all the information he already knew.

I was very sorry to hear of his passing, and to this day miss his truly gentlemanly manner. He was one of the greats.

As far as variety, I think my favorite Concours car is Phil & Pat Dayen's Green 69 GS 350 Coupe. You might ask why restore that car, well I don't know if they bought it new, but they did raise their family in it.

Personally I don't like green cars, or the 68-69 body style very much, but if that car ever comes up for sale and I find out about it, you will probably see me there. That one drives me crazy, it just came out so correct. (Of course "Eagle Eye" Dave Tumas helped put it together.)

Very few cars drive me crazy like that. Two others that comes to mind are Jeff Sapp's old 70 White GSX, and Gary Foster's old car, a 70 Silver Stage 1 4-speed coupe....and his didn't even come with a radio.:laugh::laugh:

While looking for something else today I sumbled upon these photos on my computer. I think I snagged these from an ad on this board from about 5 years ago when this tank was for sale. It's another good example of how the steel manufacturer's logo can end up almost perfectly centered on the bottom. This one happens to have the Pittsburgh logo.

Since we got a little off topic already, I'll throw these out there too. These are inspector stamps from a couple of different tanks. I have them recorded as both being from '69 GTO tanks, but can't remember for sure now.
